yumminess!

one of the reasons that i love traveling to philadelphia to work….aside from seeing great friends and doing meaningful work- they have the best dang gelato ever!

rainy day voyeur

i know that i have done a similar picture to this one already, but- hey…i’ve got 365 days of pictures…chances are you’re going to see something more than once! who knows though, maybe i’ll have enough of these for an entire series at the end of this project?

city lines

i am fascinated with taking pictures of city and lines- so these bike racks have been piquing my interest every time i walked past them! glad i got a chance to

beam me up!

one of the restaurants that i frequent in philly has really amazing lights throughout the place….these are on the ceiling. i really liked the abstract, sort of alien look to them after editing!

stuart

i stepped out in front of my hotel to try and grab a couple of pictures before heading out for the day, when i stumbled upon this kind gentleman who fashioned himself a vest and hat decorated in assorted coins, rocks, and even a chicken bone.  the vest weighed in at 10 pounds according to stuart- nothing in comparison to the suit he was in the process of making! here’s hoping i can catch him on the streets next year in the finished product!

lunch

finally got to try a roast pork sandwich at dinic’s in reading terminal today! more importantly, i got to hang out with friends and catch up!

higher power

at snack time today, i happened to notice how the restaurant had different things on the shelves in each skylight…i just loved this nun doll- her positioning, the hands, and how she is looking up towards the light.

new shoes and socks day!

…and the spoil fest continued!  after breakfast, my parents treated the kids to new shoes and socks!

rain drops

i got to play with my new lens today (my lensbaby!).  i tried to make the most of a rainy day!

up

i was playing with my new lens! i just love trees and lines! and my new lens- so much fun!

upside down

my son was having so much fun playing with his friends at school on the playground when i went to pick him up…he even asked if he could stay and if i could come back and get him after i finished packing! i almost fell to the ground…instead, i quickly ran back to my car and home to finish packing- before he could change his mind (this doesn’t make me a bad mom, right? just doing what he asked!)!

twin day

my daughter had twin day at school.  after her friend’s mother shot down a shopping trip (yeah- i would have done the same thing!), they came up with the idea to wear superhero t-shirts.  they definitely had a case of the super-sillies that day- not different from any other day i suppose though! I’m so thankful that she has a good girlfriend that will wear a superhero t-shirt with her…because there’s no way you would’ve seen my daughter in a dress!

people mover

what else do you do during an airport layover? i take random pictures of people!

the light

i must admit…i’m not sure if this was my favorite picture of the day, but it was the only landscape shot i took (and i’m type-a…so i want every shot to be that way for this project…even though it’s only day 55- that might change later?!). however, i loved how the light was shining through the clouds and some of the philadelphia skyline (well, it was a bridge not really buildings!).

they’re here!

my parents flew in from north carolina.  thankfully, it was a beautiful day and we made it to the airport in time to see their plane land.  Love my kids’ excitement!

taco tuesday

i know there’s probably so many things technically wrong with this picture- but it’s my project, so i don’t care! i love this picture for so many reasons! for of all…that’s my mom sipping her beer in the back- she hates to be in pictures- but i’m glad she’s in this one, even if it’s a little blurry back there…kind of reminds me of where she is in my life now- maybe not clearly present but i know she’s still there.  also- it was taco tuesday.  it was my mom’s idea to take it a step further…hence the sombrero, the mustaches, the maracas (i’m really not happy about them), and some make-shift towel sarapes.  i love how this is just normal for my parents.  i also love how my children are still present even though they are not physically in the picture.  my daughter hung up a “skyfall” poster on the wall and is responsible for making name placards for the table (all on her own).  and of course, i see my son in the batman placemat! so, while this particular picture might not be my “best” work, it really means a lot to me…and i’ll take that!

birthday brunch

love being able to spend the morning with one of my best friends to help celebrate her birthday- doesn’t hurt that we had incredibly yummy food as well!

lights of my life

while at the drug store, my mom guilt kicked in for only getting my kids one small box of chocolate each and a movie to share, so i broke down and bought them the pillows that light up…at least they make for neat pictures! chances are i’ll get guilted into buying them the blankets that go with it!

the anger bed

another controlled way of expressing his frustration…he decided he did not want to sleep in his bed, so he made one on the landing!

night out

my husband and i had the luxury of going to see a show and have dinner with my parents in san francisco…just a quick shot while walking to and fro!

that’s my wish!

my kids pointing out which wish is theirs in the fountain outside of church…just in case God missed the prayers inside the church!

editors’ choice | monterey lifestyle photographer

i was so excited- and extremely humbled- to have one of my pictures receive the Editors’ Choice award from Clickin’ Moms.  last month’s creativity challenge was unconventional self-portraits.  i was inspired by another picture i saw on their site and decided to attempt my own version.

here is the picture i shared; however, i highly encourage you to check out their site and see all of the images that were chosen (click here)…they are really, really amazing and truly inspirational!  i am extremely lucky to have found this forum and be surrounded by such talented women- love!
